11:37 am - PerceptionIsts CD Release Show Last Night

Did anybody here go ? I thought it was great – not only the Perceptionists, but I had no idea that Vast from Cannibal Ox or Ed O.G. was going to be there. Or El-P for that matter. The dancers were aiight. Who did that twisted rap about Sesame Street, anyway ?

this is the hottest joint out from boston right now...

i have a sneaking suspicion that the next hot boston single or album after The Perceptionists 'black dialog' is going to be Dre Robinson who's joint is slated to come out in may....

Queens, indo for weeks
Sold out seats to hear Biggie Smalls speak
Livin' life without fear
Puttin' 5 karats in my baby girl's ears
Lunches, brunches, interviews by the pool
Considered a fool 'cause I dropped out of high school
Stereotypes of a black male misunderstood
And it's still all good

Uh...and if you don't know, now you know, nigga

Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis
When I was dead broke, man I couldn't picture this
50 inch screen, money green leather sofa
Got two rides, a limousine with a chauffeur
Phone bill about two G's flat
No need to worry, my accountant handles that
And my whole crew is loungin'
Celebratin' every day, no more public housin'
Thinkin' back on my one-room shack
Now my mom pimps a Ac' with minks on her back
And she loves to show me off, of course
Smiles every time my face is up in The Source
We used to fuss when the landlord dissed us
No heat, wonder why Christmas missed us
Birthdays was the worst days
Now we sip champagne when we thirst-ay
Uh, damn right I like the life I live
'Cause I went from negative to positive

current mood: nostalgic

1:30 am - show review Perceptionists / 7L & Esoteric / Skitzofreniks

7L + Eso
Skitzofreniks (sort of)
D-Tension (whatever)
Porn Theatre Ushers (eh..)
Lifestyles (??!?)

show was ok, well... at least not until 7L & Esoteric took stage.. then AKRO and LIF blew that fucker up!!

but waaaaaaaaaaaaay too short...

way too much of white rapper from upper-middle class suburb talking alot but not saying nothin... lifestyles? he's named after a condom?

i liked the skitzofreniks, but apparently they all were not their for the show.. so they didn't really have a set together. they also didn't know the new material and checkmark jokingly lipsynch'd through a song.. it was mildly amusing BUT again it took away from Lif & Ak...

sorta waste of money, but sorta cool to see em all.. its been awhile for me

3:15 am - what'a yall think... here are my opinions..

i recently acquired this 2001 release. *yawn*.. ok, i knew in advance that this was some tired gangsta shit however i'm ok with that if the beats and flows are nice. well, the beats on this cd are average.. they sound like everything else that came out 2001-2003. so when the beats are boring and the flows are average.. i hope for some ill content to keep my attention. as i previously stated, this cd lacks that too. *yawn* but apparently, one of the dudes, 'smoke bulga' got signed to Epic/Sony after this release.. but it looks like his album was shelved.. check http://www.smokebulga.com oh and you can buy this cd here when benzino went solo, i was excited because it opened up the opportunity for Anthony Twice Thou and Gzus to go solo. Although we have yet to hear from Mr. Gsus, Twice Thou hit us in 2002 with a solo joint. theres nothing new content-wise.. some tracks have banging beats.. i'd suggest picking this one up. Tangg blazes a few tracks.. plus dozens of new-comers including some mami's breathing fire on the chorus. yeah, go get it. try http://www.antonioansaldi.com

one note - both of these cd's have fuckin chipmunk RnB samples or chorus.. i hope this trend ends soon.. you know like in Twista's "slow jams" that pitched up vocals samples... bah

10:45 pm - Help, I'm in dire need of good local live music to get my juices flowing and head on straight!

I'm new to this site and am wandering around aimlessly in search of some amusement. I guess that just about sums up my life right now. Laid off, stressed out about the piss poor economy and lack of jobs and other stupid mundane life stressors but desperately trying to convince myself to relax and enjoy the summer with my miniscule kick backs from Uncle Sam.

Anyway, I absolutely love live music particularly hip-hop, punk, rock and funk but am having trouble finding new cool bands to see. Either the music scene has been lame lately or I'm not looking in the right places. I definitely enjoy modern music but tend to lead towards the classics and those who I find to be true lrycists such as Biggie, The Roots, Tupac, Mobb Deep, Snoop, Dr. Dre, Nas, Erykah Badu, De La Soul, Prince, Chili Peppers, Metalicca, India Arie, Jane's Addiction, Nirvana etc. OK, you get the picture. I'm not 20 and a bit old school but I'm extremely open-minded to new cool music. Any feedack on local bands would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! :)
